Tubre
is situated next to the Swiss border. With its thousand inhabitants
only ten km away from the mainstream, it’s a unique village
with its very own charm. Until a few years ago people mostly lived
from agriculture. Nevertheless you will still find lot of rustic
characteristics and people still produce their own agricultural
produ
cts.
In a little wooden hut up the mountains
in Avingatal you can taste local delicious cheese and butter.
The village picture is mad up by some old renovated historical
buildings and also some new buildings, which definitely express
some of the particular features of South Tyrol. The local band
was founded during 1862. It’s their traditional duty to
support all kinds of ecclestical and secular activities.
Near Tubre you have access to the Swiss
National Park, which is only 20 minutes by car, and also Stilfser
Joch National Park which is the biggest nati
onal
park in Europe.
There are also other cultural placesto
visit in Tubre, such as “Stilfser Joch”, the cultural
city Merano, and the famous “Ötzi” museum, to
mention a few. These places represent nice one-day-trips.
